Marika Whitfield has been in the horticulture industry since 1997 and for many years, has worked full time in numerous large busy nurseries in both cool and subtropical climates whilst specialising in food gardening. She has a Diploma of Horticulture, Certificate 4 in Workplace Training and Assessment and has completed courses in Permaculture Design, Advanced Permaculture Principals and Landscape Drawing. She also created a bit of a splash hitting the front page of the Age newspaper in Melbourne (2007) when heading a campaign for more sensible water access for home and community vegie gardeners!

Marika is a passionate and knowledgeable horticulturalist, presenter and consultant. Believing the best way to help the environment is to grow your own food or source it locally, she loves nothing better than sharing her accumulated know-how to anyone wanting to learn and what better way to do it than creating and presenting gardening classes or offering private garden consultations?

Marika has a love for natural systems and food plants, writes a regular food gardening column in the Sun local newspaper on the Gold Coast, Queensland and runs two large organic vegetable gardens.
